Administrative Palace of Argeș County

The Administrative Palace of Argeș County is one of the most important buildings in Argeș County, both historically and administratively. The building was constructed between 1969 and 1970, based on a design by architects Cezar Lăzărescu and Mircea Ochinciuc. On the current site of the Administrative Palace, there stood for six decades, just steps away from the "Saint George" Church, an imposing Meat Hall, which was demolished in the early 1970s.

As a monumental construction, the Administrative Palace constitutes the southern side of the central civic square of Pitești, with a broad perspective toward Victoriei Street, extending to the Alexandru Davila Theater. The building features modern architecture that incorporates a series of traditional elements. Composed in a linear fashion, the structure has a basement, ground floor, mezzanine, and five floors.
The Administrative Palace is a symbolic institution in the architecture of Pitești. At the same time, it plays a vital role in the administrative life and economic development of Argeș County.

Since no major interventions have been made on the building since its construction, the Argeș County Council accessed a European-funded project aimed at improving the building's energy efficiency. Thus, after more than 50 years, the Administrative Palace has been entirely rehabilitated as part of a European project dedicated exclusively to public administrative buildings.

The Administrative Palace serves as the venue for the administrative activities of the institutions operating within this building, namely the Argeș County Council, the Prefect's Institution, and other public interest institutions. The Administrative Palace is open to the public during the Open Doors Day event.
