About
Continuing the route on DN 7 towards the border with Dâmbovița County, 30 km from Pitești, we arrive in the commune of Leordeni.
Here, in the village of Ciolcești, is the "Dinu Lipatti" Memorial House, a superb villa belonging to the famous pianist Dinu Lipatti, a student of the great George Enescu. The house was built in the Neo-Romanian style by Dinu Lipatti's father, violinist Constantin Lipatti, between 1938-1942.
The Ciolcești mansion became a memorial house on December 17, 1985, after two years of renovations. The building is listed in the List of Historical Monuments. The exhibition on the ground floor takes you through the universe of a genius artist.
Here you will find an impressive collection of photographs and correspondence illustrating the life and work of the great Romanian pianist and composer, as well as numerous objects that belonged to Dinu Lipatti (Bechstein piano, diplomas, scores) and his brother, diplomat and cultural figure Valentin Lipatti, his family, acquaintances from home and abroad, family photos (Dinu Lipatti at different ages, with his teachers - George Enescu, Florica Muzicescu, Mihail Jora). Many of the photos were taken by Dinu Lipatti himself, as he was a passionate and talented photographer.
Currently, the "Dinu Lipatti" Memorial House is under the administration of the Argeș County Museum.
