“Pardon” Boulevard and the „Merci” Public Garden
Parc
About
In the central area of Câmpulung Municipality there is the famous “Pardon” Boulevard, set up in 1880. The name derives from the fact that, due to the crowd, many “clashes” were produced, followed by the French replica “Pardon!”, used by the inhabitants to apologize. Across the street, there is the “Merci” Public Garden, where the alley of personalities can be admired, with the busts of great cultural personalities such as: Dan Barbilian (Ion Barbu), the painter and participant in the 1848 Revolution I.D. Negulici, the historian C.D. Aricescu, the writer Tudor Mușatescu, the academician C. Baraschi, C.I. Parhon and Nicolae Bălcescu. It is said that the “Merci” Public Garden could not have existed without “Pardon” Boulevard and vice versa, their destinies blending harmoniously over time.
